Maidana VS Lopez
Marcos “El Chino” Maidana (33-3, 30
KO’s) will face-off against Josesito Lopez, (30-5, 18 KO’s) on June 8th 2013,
at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. This will mark Maidana’s first title
defense of his WBA Intercontinental Welterweight (Live on Showtime). These two fighters have proven to bring, in
every bout, a combination of fire, never-ending heart and will power; setting
up the stage for a possible battle of the year.
Dating back to December 12th 2012, Maidana
was marked as the new WBA Intercontinental Welterweight Title Champion over
Angel Martinez, in Estadio Luna Park, Buenos Aires, Argentina. This fight
reaffirmed Maidana as a knockout artist, through technique and power. Opponent
Josesito Lopez enters this bout, as he shakes off a brutal loss against one of
Mexico’s Top Boxing Star, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez last September 15th
2012, a questionable match, where Lopez fought above his normal weight, believed
by many as a crucial disadvantage.
As these two
fighters come into this match, they share one common factor that defines all
possibilities can occur in a boxing ring: Victory over Victor “Vicious” Ortiz; both
being the underdog fighter, both going against all odds. Maidana was the first
to face Victor Ortiz on June 26, 2009. In this fight, Madiana was dropped three times
by Ortiz. However, Marcos Maidana was able to turn the match around with
powerful punches that led to a TKO on the 6th round. On June 23, 2012,
Josesito Lopez shocked the world by defeating Ortiz via TKO, by breaking Ortiz’
jaw on the 9th round.
June 8, 2013 will
be the day, where Marcos ‘El Chino’ Maidana and Josesito Lopez will deliver
their heart and never-ending will power. Will this be a new classic in the
making for the Boxing world today? Should the winner of Maidana-Lopez take-on
Victor Ortiz for a possible re-match?
